FELTON - Matthew E. Bair passed away on Nov. 3, 2012 in Dover. He was the son of Edward Bair of Jupiter, Fla. and Patricia Hall of Felton. Matthew graduated from Lake Forest High School, in 2002, before heading into the US Army where he served for the next 8 years. He completed basic training in Fort Leonardwood, Mo. followed by leadership training at Fort Polk, La. He specialized in Biological and Chemical Warfare, rising to the rank of Sergeant. He served 2 years in Iraq and did recon into Afghanistan. He earned the Iraq Campaign medal with two campaign stars, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global Walk on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Serve Medal, and the Humitarian Service Medal. He was very proud of serving his country and his room is full of his accomplishments and awards from the Army. Matthew had a love for sports. He played little league baseball from age 5 to 17. He loved to watch football and basketball, his favorite teams being the Baltimore Ravens and Chicago Bulls. Matthew enjoyed spending time with his family, and had a special love for his niece and nephew, Brayden and Myranda. He was very outgoing, always cracking jokes, loved being around friends and always on the go. He loved going to the beaches, here in Delaware, but especially in Hawaii when he was stationed there. He will be missed by his family, friends, and his little buddy, Jackson the dog. In addition to parents he is survived by his sisters, Jamie Peer and Shay Foreman both of Dover. A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE 19952. Family and friends may gather starting at 6 p.m. Interment will be at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Millsboro, Del. Donations can be made to Melvin Funeral Home to help defray funeral expenses.
