OCEAN VIEW — A 38-year-old Maryland man has been charged with murder in connection with a shooting death Oct. 21, Delaware State Police Master Cpl. Gary Fournier said.
According to authorities, Cheryl Beckett-Brown was found dead by troopers at a residence in the 35000 block of Bethany Crest. An autopsy was performed, and it determined that the cause and manner of death was a homicide by gunshot wound.
Jason R. Meredith of Hebron was determined to be a suspect and subsequently located at his residence and arrested. He was extradited to Delaware on Friday.
Mr. Meredith was charged with second-degree murder, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and first-degree reckless endangering. He was arraigned via videophone through Justice of the Peace Court 2, Rehoboth Beach, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on a $226,000 cash-only bond.
