HARRINGTON — On Wednesday, a 54-year-old Maryland man was arrested after he allegedly attempted to cash a forged check, Harrington Police said.

Maurice Shockley was located inside the WSFS Bank on Commerce Street, authorities said. Investigation found that he allegedly had a check that he was attempting to cash from a business. The business was then contacted and police confirmed that the business never issued a check to Mr. Shockley and the check was fraudulent.

Mr. Shockley was taken into custody and transported to the Harrington Police Department for processing. He was charged with attempted theft over $1,500, second-degree forgery and second-degree conspiracy. He was arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and he was released on $3,000 unsecured bond.
