Mary Sue Beasten

EARLEWILLE, Md. - Mary Sue Beasten died April 30, 2014 in Heartland Hospice House, Wilmington. Mrs. Beasten was born on July 27, 1920, daughter of the late Robert and Ruth Isabella McKee Copenhaver. She was raised in Stewartstown, Pa. and in 1951 moved to the Herndon Farm in Earleville. Sue was an active member of Zion United Methodist Church and in 1955 joined the Greenfingers Garden Club. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her 1st husband of 3 years, Donald W. Shaw in 1948; her 2nd husband of 50 years, Albert Beasten in 2001; her daughter, Barbara Jane Emerson; son-in- law, Richard 'Rick' Hanifee and siblings, Dabney Copenhaver, Fred Copenhaver and Emma McCleary. Mrs. Beasten is survived by her daughters, Donna Sue Shaw Brown and her husband Harry of Earleville and Carol Ann Hanifee of Earleville; four grandchildren, Sean Hanifee (Alison), Molly McNatt (Jason), Joshua Brown and Zachary Brown (Jacqueline); and eight great-grandchildren, Evan and Brenan Hanifee, Jason, Lilah and Tanner McNatt and Carcenia, Raegan and Ian Brown. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 4 at 2 p.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD, where friends may call from 12 to 2 pm. Burial in Galena Cemetery. In the memory of Mrs. Beasten memorials may be offered to Zion U.M. Church Building Fund, PO.
