Mary S. Thomas

MARYDEL, Del. - Mary S. Thomas passed away on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012 at the Country Rest Home in Greenwood, Del. She was born on May 14, 1912 in Wyoming, Del. to the Late Harvey and Huldah Zuehlke McGinnis. She was a 1931 graduate of Caesar Rodney High School and a 1933 Graduate of the Nursing School at Milford Memorial Hospital. She was a nurse from 1933 to 1936, but keep up her certification for many years following. She was a member of Henderson United Methodist Church, Frazier's Homemakers Club, the Delaware Farm Bureau, and the Kent County Order of Links. She was also the final surviving charter member of Bethesda Grange No. 64, as well as a member of Kent County Pomona Grange No. 2, and the Delaware State Grange. She was also a past leader of the Westville 4-H Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Francis E. Thomas, Sr.; son, F. Eugene Thomas, Jr.; brother, Herman McGinnis; and sister, Elsie McGinnis. She is survived by a son, Harvey O. Thomas Sr. of Marydel, Del.; daughter, Margaret S. Robinson and her husband Franklin of Marydel, Md.; grandson, Edward T. Robinson and his wife Kristen of Marydel, Md; grandson, Harvey O. Thomas Jr. of Dover; and two great-grandsons, Luke and Noah (sons of Edward and Kristen). Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012 at the Trader Funeral Home Inc., 12 Lotus Street, Dover, Delaware 19901. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 in the funeral home, with Pastor Larry Hanifee officiating. Interment will be at Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica, Delaware. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Delaware State Grange Scholarship Fund, 911 S.
