Mary Newcomb Pearce

Pearce, 85 GALENA, Md. - Mary Newcomb Pearce joined her husband of 54 years, Marion Earl "Shep" Pearce; and son, Larry Pearce, in heaven on Jan. 3, 2013 after a long illness. Mary was born on Nov. 5, 1927, daughter of the late George and Gladys Moore Newcomb. She had lived the majority of her life in Galena where she was a 1944 graduate of Galena High School. Mary loved to travel which took her to every state in the United States and several countries abroad. She loved to do crafts. She loved her home in Galena and took great pride in her yard work. Many said she had the prettiest flowers in the spring. She was a member of the Galena V.F.C. Ladies Auxiliary and the Lower Cecil County Senior Citizens. She is survived by two sons, George Marion Pearce and his wife Jolene, of Hebron, Md., and Richard Earl Pearce and his wife Bridget, of Petaluma, Calif.; a beloved daughter, Nancy Orr-Bothwell and her husband Charles "Butch" Bothwell, of Clarksboro, N.J.; one sister, Margaret Hendrickson of Still Pond, Md.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2012, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD, with services immediately following. Interment will be in Galena Cemetery. Pallbearers are her grandsons, William "Greg" Orr, Scott Orr, Michael Orr, Robbie Pearce, and Jason Pearce. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations sent to Safe Haven Manor c/o Heartland House, 113 Perry's Corner Rd., Grasonville, MD 21638 in Mary's memory. www.galenafuneralhomeofsls.com.
