CAMBRIDGE - Mary Mace Webster, 84, of Cambridge, passed away at her home on Friday, April 13, 2007. She had been in failing health for several years.

She was born in Cambridge on Aug. 22, 1922, and was a daughter of the late John Mace and Mary Eleanor Neal Brohawn.

She attended schools in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1939, and had remained especially close to a number of her classmates through the years. On Nov. 5, 1944, she was married to Leonard G. Webster. Mr. Webster passed away on Jan. 3, 2001.

Some years ago Mrs. Webster worked at Feldman's Furniture in Cambridge and also at the C&P Telephone Co. She had also helped her husband operating the family grocery business, E.G. Webster & Son, for many years.

She was a lifelong member of Zion United Methodist Church in Cambridge, where she was a member of the Crescent Class, and had been a Sunday school teacher for 50 years; she had also been instrumental in operating the kitchen for various functions. She was also a member of the Barbara Pak Circle and United Methodist Women, where she had held various offices and served on the administrative board several times.

Mrs. Webster was also a life member of the Cambridge Woman's Club and was also a life member of the Dorchester General Hospital Auxiliary, and had worked numerous hours at the Robin Hood Shop as well as in the gift shop at Dorchester General Hospital. Some years ago she had taken care of the Cradle Role at Dorchester General Hospital, documenting all of the births at Dorchester General Hospital.

Survivors include one daughter, Elaine W. Horseman of Cambridge; two sons, Austin N. Webster and his wife, Nita Webster of Harmony and Roger G. Webster of Cambridge; two grandchildren, April G. Webster and Colin Mace Webster, three stepgrandchildren, Clayton Crown, Jason Crown and Amanda Spiegel; one great-grandchild, Samuel Spiegel; one sister, Peggy Ellis of Hot Springs Village, Ark. and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Gay Webster.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today at Zion United Methodist Church on Locust Street in Cambridge with the Rev. Kevin E. English officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.

The family received friends on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Endowment Fund of Zion United Methodist Church, 612 Locust St., Cambridge, MD 21613 or to the Robin Hood Shop, 416 High St., Cambridge, MD 21613.

Pallbearers will be Tom Maguire, Jack Dilts, Mark Masden, G. Edwin Howard, Steve Webster and Donald Webster. Honorary Bearers will be her caregivers who have been with her for the past few years, Carolyn Newcomb, Ella Jones, Robyn Edmondson, Thelma Hooper, Sara Sheets and Tammy Lewis.
