HARRINGTON - Mary Lou Lindsay, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013 in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Lindsay was born the daughter of the late Carson and Mary Ann Stauffer Mrs. Lindsay loved to sew, she started sewing at age 16 by working in a sewing factory and continued to sew for over 60 years. She made all kinds of garments including men's suits, wedding gowns, and drapery. In her later years she mainly did quilting and wall hangings. Mrs. Lindsay had a green thumb. She loved to garden and often canned and froze vegetables for the winter months. She loved African violets and her house would have 20-30 plants at one time. She was a sweet but stubborn Pennsylvania Dutch woman whose first language was Dutch. She loved to talk to everyone. She enjoyed showing off her quilts and sewing projects. She loved her family and her Lord and will be greatly missed. Mrs. Lindsay was a member of the Milford Nazarene Church for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Guy Eugene Lindsay. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie D. (Tom) Melvin of Harrington; sisters, Marjorie (James) Zimmerman of Mifflinburg, Pa., Dorothy (Joe) Stauffer of Port Treverton, Pa.; grandchildren, Tammy G. (Bruce) Williamson of Bridgeville, Crystal L. (Mark) Johnson of Harrington, C. Eugene (Summer) Melvin of Harrington; great grandchildren, Carson T. Williamson, Devynn, Dylan, Danyell Melvin; and many nieces, nephews, cousins Service will be held Monday, July 29, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Interment will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington. Mrs. Lindsay enjoyed flowers and always said she wanted her flowers while alive.
