HARTLY - Mary Helen McGinnis of Hartly, died Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at her home in Hartly, DE. She was 69. Mary Helen McGinnis was born July 17, 1942 in Millington, Md., the daughter of the late Bertha McGinnis. Mrs. McGinnis attended school grade school in Sudlersville, Md. She spent most of her life at home as a homemaker as a result of her disability. Her greatest joy was tending to her animals and taking care of them. She was loved by her companion, Charles Bodine for 36 years. Mrs. McGinnis is survived by one son, Joseph "Lucky" McGinnis of Hartly; three sisters, Patsy McGinnis of Dover, Brenda Heverin of Woodside, Kathryn Kurtz of Felton; three brothers, Allen McGinnis of Woodside, Robert McGinnis of Clayton, Gene McGinnis of Dagsboro; two grandchildren, Ashley McGinnis of Dover, Tiffany McGinnis of Hartly; three great- grandchildren, Serenity, Skylar and Selena McGinnis; and her companion of 36 years, Charles Bodine. Services will be held Monday, May 21, 2012 at 12 noon at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home 370 Cypress St. Millington, MD. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12 noon for visitation.
