DOVER - Mary Helen Edwards passed away peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012 at Courtland Manor Nursing Home surrounded by her family. She was born May 17, 1924 in Dover, to the late Pearl and Elmer Hammond. On March 15, 1947 she married Paul P. Edwards, Sr. where they began a life of 65 years together. Mary Helen was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and reading. She was an active member of the First Seventh Day Adventist Church of Dover, Del. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Elmer and John (JC) Hammond. She is survived by her husband, Paul P. Edwards, Sr.; daughters, Vicky D. Dawes of Marydel, Del., and Bonnie L. and husband Jim R. Fletcher, of Kingsport, Tenn.; sons, Paul P. Edwards, II and wife Shawn L. of Dover, and Douglas D. Edwards and wife Connie L. of Dover; she is also survived by five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Services were held privately at the request of the family at Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming, DE. Also, a special "Thank You" to Delaware Hospice for their compassionate care.
