BLACKBIRD - Mary E. Reed passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013 at Bayhealth Medical Center, Dover. She was born in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Daniel and Ruth Smith. She worked with her daughter since 1985 in her daughter's flower shop, Debbie's Country Florist in Smyrna. Mary was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Smyrna. She enjoyed birdwatching, especially cardinals, and also enjoyed sewing and baking. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Reed III; a brother, Daniel F. Smith; and a sister, Ruth "Peaches" Gill. She is survived by two sons, George E. and Joyce Reed of Smyrna and Bruce K. and Mercedes Reed, of Smyrna; two daughters, Doris and Adam Cosner of Townsend and Deborah and Ronnie Morgan, of Smyrna; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services will be held at noon on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna. To send a condolence letter, visit www.matthewsbryson.com.
