Mary E. Miles Custis, 76

MARION STATION - Mary E. Miles Custis, 76, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2007 at her home.

Born in Crisfield, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Alma Horsey Miles.

She was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church, where she was secretary for the administrative council and a member of the John Wesley chorus. She was a member of Starlight Chapter 44 Order of the Eastern Star. She retired from Rubberset Co. after 26 years of service.

She is survived by two daughters, Angela Bell (Donald) and Catherine Jackson (Larry) both of Marion Station; three granddaughters, Quanda Custis (whom she raised) of Lewes, Janise Bell and Amber Collins (her caretaker), both of Marion; one great-grandson, Christopher Richardson Jr.; one sister, Marguerite Young (Melvin), one half-brother, Thomas Ward (Martha), and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jacquelyn Wilklins (1989) and her husband, Isaac "Jack" Custis (2006).

A funeral service was held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at John Wesley United Methodist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Contributions may be made in her memory to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, Md. 21801.

Arrangements were handled by Anthony E. Ward Funeral Home in Crisfield.
