'Attix' Burton LEWES - Mary Catherine (Attix) Burton passed away peacefully on Oct. 3, 2012 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Jane Robin and Rieks Bruins in N.J. Mrs. Burton was born in Kenton, Del. After graduation from Smyrna High School, she moved to Wilmington, Del. to attend Goldey College, now known as Goldey Beacom College. Mrs. Burton worked at Wilmington Trust Bank, prior to her marriage to James Robinson Burton. Together, they operated Burton-Conant Fuel Oil and later Burton's Produce in Rehoboth Beach, Del. Mrs. Burton was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, the Dewey Beach Area Citizens Association and was a Daughter of Rebekah, affiliated with the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. She was an active supporter of many patriotic and environmental charities, including the 4-H and was an Honorary Chapter Farmer in the FFA. In her later years, she attended her late husbands church, Rehoboth Presbyterian Church of Midway. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Clark and Elva M. (Cook) Attix; her husband, James Robinson Burton (1989); and her only sister, Anna Stevens. Mrs. Burton is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jane Robin and Rieks Bruins; three grandsons ; Benjamin and his wife Kathryn and James and his wife Gia and Jan Robert; a step daughter, Sydney Dunmon; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 8, 2012 at 11 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Home & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Epworth Methodist Cemetery, Rehoboth Beach, Del. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to the Rehoboth Beach Museum, 511 Rehoboth Ave. Rehoboth Beach, DE. 19971.
