Mary Ann Tapert

DOVER - Mary Ann Tapert, of Dover, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013, in Kent General Hospital, Dover, surrounded by her loving family. Mary Ann was born Dec. 18, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan . After marriage to Allan Tapert, she lived in California, Wisconsin, Maryland, and then Delaware. Mary Ann and Allan would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 17th. She was a communicant of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Dover; a member of T.O.P.S.; and a former member of the D.A.F.B. Officers Wives Club. MaryAnn enjoyed sewing, knitting, baking, playing bingo, traveling, and loved being with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James A. Tapert. Mrs. Tapert is survived by her husband, Allan Tapert; two daughters, Christine Tapert, of Dover, and Sally Forrest, & her husband, Fran, of Wilmington; a sister, Eva Marie Berko, of Simpsonville, S.C.; two grandchildren, Meridan Tapert, of Dover, and Sean Forrest of Wilmington; and several nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2013, in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., where family and friends may view from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
