Mary Agnes Spry

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Mary Agnes Spry died on Feb. 23, 2013 at Golden Rule Assisted Living. She was born in Centreville, Md. on Sept. 30, 1926 the daughter of the late William Bryan and Mary Faulkner Price. Mrs. Spry was a 1944 graduate of Church Hill High School and soon after completed her education with Goldey Beacom Business School. She married Irving Wright Spry, Sr. in 1953 , became a farmer's wife, and began her family. She not only worked with her husband but for a short time with Chestertown Bank of Maryland. In 1972 her husband predeceased her and she returned to the work force shortly thereafter. Mrs. Spry worked as an administrative assistant with Baldwin Electric in Chestertown until her retirement in 1991. She was very involved in her children's lives whether through the 4-H, school functions, or attending the grandchildren's softball and baseball games at Worton Park, where she was known by all as "Mom Spry". She loved the Orioles and watching the University of Maryland Terps Basketball, she also enjoyed knitting, flower and vegetable gardening, word puzzles, and especially family gatherings. Mrs. Spry is survived by her beloved family, children, Irving W. Spry, Jr. and his wife Nedra of Worton, Md., Terry Dulin and her husband Danny of Chestertown, Md., Linda Spry of Dover, Del., Jean Franks and her husband Michael of Greenwood, Del., and Shelly Spry Fleegle of Worton, Md., sisters, Jane Price of Chestertown, Md., Ellen Price of Chestertown, Md., and Ann Cieszynski of Newcastle, Del.; grandchildren, Michael Spry and his wife Whitney of Martinsburg, W.Va., Conner Fleegle of Worton, Md., and Kiley Shipp and her husband Tim of Chestertown, Md.; along with a great-grandson, Easton Nicholas Spry. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Bryan Nicholas "Nick" Spry; and a brother, Bryan Price. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. 130 Speer Road Chestertown, MD, where relatives and friends may call one hour prior (noon to 1 p.m.). Interment will be in Galena Cemetery. Those serving as pallbearers are, Danny Dulin, Michael Spry, Conner Fleegle, Michael Franks, Joe Yoash, and Bob Mousley with honorary memorial pallbearer, Bryan Nicholas Spry. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Nicholas Spry Memorial Fund, 24956 Montabello Lake Road, Worton, MD 21678. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.fhnfuneralhome.com
