Walther, 89 DOVER - Martin Arthur Walther of Dover passed away Saturday January 11, 2014 at Kent General Hospital. He was 89. Mr. Walther was born March 1, 1924 in New Bern, Texas to the late Arthur Walther and Ida Berg Walther. He served in the United States Army during WWII, in the 1st and 3rd Armies under General Bradley and General Patten. After his time in service he went to work for Capitol Truck and Trailer Company in Austin, TX for 30 years, as a mechanic/welder. He was a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church, Dover. Mr. Walther enjoyed sports, especially University of Texas Football.. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Victor. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marie (Maria) Walther of Dover; son, Jason Walther and his wife Kathy of Wyoming. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014 at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 425 N. Dupont Highway, Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Veterans of Foreign War, 166 Old Camden Rd Camden, DE 19934 Letters of condolences may be sent and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
