Martha Parks Dean

CHESTER - Martha Parks Dean passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at her home. She was born in Applegarth on Sept. 30, 1917 to the late Logan Parks and Rosa Woodland Parks.
Martha attended schools in Hoopers Island. She worked for many years as a crab picker for Rippon's Brothers Seafood Plant. On Dec. 19, 1936, she married Delmas Lance Dean, Sr., who passed away on Sept. 1, 1977. Martha enjoyed puzzles and cooking.
She is survived by three grandchildren, James Dean and fiancé Sandy Vella of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Brian Dean and wife Lisa of Ellicott City, and John Dean and wife Sharon of Hurlock; a daughter-in-law, Rhonda Dean of Chester; step grandchildren, Diana Bilbrough of Milford, Del. and Lewis Bilbrough of Snow Hill; 11 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a sister, Magdalene Mills; and her special dog, Joey. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Delmas Lance Dean Jr., who passed away on Nov. 22, 2017.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Pastor Jack Diehl officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Family will receive friends an hour before the service.
