Born in Calhoun City, Miss., on Oct. 27, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Nolan R. and Gladys Wilkerson Bardwell. During World War II, she worked in shipyards in Charleston, South Carolina and, later, Fairchild Aircraft in Washington, D.C., and Hagerstown doing time and motion studies. She had been making her home in Marion since 1955, following her marriage to Robert J. Wilson, who preceded her in death on February 20, 1998. She was a homemaker who enjoyed her home on Coulbournes Creek, her family, and especially her grandchildren. She also loved to read, travel and garden. In addition, she served as Den Mother of Cub Scouts. She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia W. Stevens and her husband, Craig, and Suzanne W. Tawes; two sons, Christopher G. Wilson and Robert J. Wilson, Jr., all of Marion Station; eight grandchildren, Dustin and Alexander Tawes, Lauren and Lindsey Wilson, and Brian, Brady, Neil and Kathleen Stevens; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joseph Cross, Lorraine Bardwell, Vernon, Richard and Carl Wilson, Donna Bechtel and Nancy Engh; and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Dorothy Cross, Robert Bardwell, Betty Jo Walker and Dugan Bardwell; and her daughter-in-law, Sheila Somers Wilson. A memorial service was held Sunday, Jan. 10, at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield. The Rev. Sally Russum officiated.
