MAGNOLIA - Mark Edward Brestel passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 at home. He was born Jan. 19, 1951 in Grafton, W.Va. to the late Herbert E. Brestel and Mary Roush, and was raised in Fairmont, W.Va. Mark worked as an industrial electrician in West Virginia before moving to Delaware in 1986. Since then, he spent more than 20 years working for Townsend/Mountaire Farms in Millsboro. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins and Pirates fan, but his true love was the West Virginia University Mountaineers. He never missed a WVU football game. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Shirley Ann Hastings Brestel of Magnolia; son, Troy Brestel and his wife Jennifer of Middletown; daughter, Nicole Brestel of Utah; step-children, Melissa Lear of Ocean Pines, Md., Stefanie Felker of Salisbury, Md., Kim Scholl of Delmar, Md., Amy Donoway of Arkansas, and John Burns of Salisbury, Md.; brother, Chris Brestel of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; sisters, Cindy Brestel of Fairmont, W.Va., Herbie Deligatti of Ashtabula, Ohio; grandchildren, Brody Brestel, Ashley and Kristina Runnels, Jonathan Burns, Jr. and Jordon Scholl; great-grandchildren, Kaydence and Rhem. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be remembered for always putting his family before himself. Memorial services will be held at 8 p.m. on Friday Feb. 15, 2013 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday evening. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, 100 West 10th Street, Suite 1002, Wilmington, DE 19801.
