Schaap, 80 MILFORD - Marinus L. 'Le' Schaap, United States Air Force Retired, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012 at home. Mr. Schaap was born in Salem, Oregon, the son of the late Marinus L. and Opal (Hubbard) Schaap. He was an electronic technician in the United States Air Force for 20 years retiring in 1974. After serving in the Air Force, Le worked at N.C.R. in Millsboro until they closed. He also worked at the DuPont Glasgow Plant in Newark, I.L.C. in Frederica, the University of Delaware in Lewes and then at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford where he retired. He enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, which ultimately led to his love of collecting antiques. He also enjoyed camping in his pop-up camper and was proud of the fact he could go camping where the larger campers could not go. Le was a fine craftsman and woodworker and enjoyed gardening as well. He loved his pets and dearly loved spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary and Leroy Schaap. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Cornelia A. Schaap; one daughter, Laura Brooks and her husband Mike; two sons, Randolph Schaap and his wife Carol and Robert Schaap and his wife Cindy, all of Milford; eight grandchildren, Leslie Passwaters and her husband Mike, Jamie Benton, Sgt. Derek Schaap, U.S.M.C., Kristin Schaap, Phillip M. Schaap, A1C Leland Robert Schaap, U.S.A.F.; and David and Mike Brooks; three great-grandchildren, Jordan Passwaters, Rance and McKenzie Crouch; and one sister Georgia Seibel, of Portland, Oregon. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to either the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675 or to the Kent County S.P.C.A., 32 Shelter Circle Camden, DE 19934. Arr. by Lofland Funeral Home, Milford, DE.
