MILLSBORO — The Marine Corps League's Diamond State Detachment of Millsboro has awarded a scholarship to Marine Corps Junior ROTC Cadet Dalton Cannon.
Cadet Cannon is a 2021 graduate of Woodbridge High School. In addition to detachment members, the ceremony was attended by his parents, Dean and Susan Cannon of Seaford, and Gunnery Sgt. Lester James, Marine Corps Junior ROTC instructor.
The awardee will be attending Neumann University in Aston, Pennsylvania, this fall.
This is the second year the detachment has awarded a scholarship to a local high school senior in the Marine Corps Junior ROTC program. Members hope to continue presenting these awards annually. The detachment looks forward to the program expanding each year, not only increasing the amount of the scholarship but also the number of recipients receiving assistance.
Delaware’s Marine Corps veterans ask their neighbors to help the detachment continue to serve the community by rewarding local young people who have demonstrated their commitment to the Marine Corps and the United States.
