DOVER - Margaret Nangle, of Dover, formerly of Smyrna, peacefully passed from this world on November 25, 2013, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. Marge was born in Barnsboro, Pennsylvania, on April 29, 1917, a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Chike. She was one of ten siblings. She moved with her family to a farm in west Dover as a young child. She attended Wiley Country School in her younger years. As a teenager she went to Long Island to work as a mother's helper and help support the family during Depression years. Later she joined her sister in New York City and soon learned to sew while working in a nylon stocking plant. It didn't take long to realize that she had a real talent in sewing. Later in life she took up knitting which she loved; and combined with her talent as a seamstress, she created many beautiful suits, sweaters, afghans, etc. Her hobby turned into her passion for beautiful, one-of-a-kind masterpieces. She married Edward T. Nangle in 1956 and lived in Reading, Pennsylvania, supporting Ed in his position of vice-president of the Reading Teamsters. Upon his retirement in 1979, they moved to Riviera Beach, Florida. There she enjoyed the Florida lifestyle fishing with Ed and entertaining. After his passing in 1990, she moved to Delaware to be closer to family. She will be remembered as a generous, giving person who always had some advice for everyone. She hoped that we would learn from her experience. Marge loved her home in Smyrna, especially her Florida room where she would sit and enjoy watching what was going on outside her windows, talking with neighbors, playing solitaire, completing complicated jigsaw puzzles, and listening to her favorite singer, Daniel O'Donnell. Two years ago, she left Smyrna to join the State Street Assisted Living family where she enjoyed her final years and was affectionately called Aunt Marge by many. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward T. Nangle; and five brothers and four sisters, Andrew, Michael, Paul, Steve, and Joseph Chike and Mary Mennesey, Ann Kobza, and Helen Killen. She is survived by a step-son and daughter-in-law, Edward T. and Charlette Nangle Jr., of Lititz, Pennsylvania; a sister, Agnes Stein of Middletown, New York; and several nieces and nephews, Regina and Ron Morra of Dover; Joanne and Clayton Bedwell of Felton; Betty Sprackland of Dover; Diane Waski of St. Augustine, Florida; Steve and Char Wasylkowski of Holland, Michigan; Suzanne and John Albert of Dover; Patsy and Ron Sower of West Lake Village, California; Katherine Laster of Burbank, California; Paul and Jane Chike of Dover; Lewis Chike of Oregon, Pat Kobza of Dover, Marge Byrnes of Dover, Roberta Chike of Felton, Robert and Albert Van Buren of Middletown, New York; and several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
