SMYRNA - Margaret Marie Scafe died at Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill on Monday, Oct. 7, 2013. She was born on Dec. 5, 1935, the eldest daughter of Eugene Scafe and Katharine Scafe Furman. A birth injury left her with cerebral palsy. She attended Children's Rehabilitation Institute in Cockeysville, Md., Governor Bacon Health Center in Delaware City, and in 1970 became a resident of Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill. She attended the Easter Seal Day Program in Dover for two decades. She loved the staff and activities at Easter Seals. She is survived by her sisters, Nancy Covert (Jack), Martha Fisher (Jack), and Julie Furman; as well as many nieces and nephews. Marie's family is very grateful to the staff at DHCI and Easter Seals who cared for her and enriched her life. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013 in the auditorium of the Candee Building at Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will take place following the service.
