Lawson, 74 Milford - Margaret Lesley Lawson died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014 at her home in Milford, Delaware surrounded by her family and close friends following a long illness. Born and raised in (Croydon) London, England, the daughter of Reginald Frederick Stroud and Jane Ballantyne (Reynard) Stroud, Lesley as she preferred to be called, was liked by almost everyone who met her and was loved by most of them. She was kind, loving, intelligent, and resourceful and was successful at all of her endeavors. In her early years, she received training in hospitality and hotel management. She worked at Southeastern Gas Board England as a sales representative in Croydon, England for several years. While traveling the world with her military husband, Lesley was the quintessential military spouse who took advantage of or created opportunities to earn an income to supplement her husband's military pay, while raising three sons. In Tokyo, Japan, Lesley formed her own business in housekeeping and arranged shipping of pets for military families. She also taught English to employees at a private Japanese firm (NIKO) as well as to school children and adults at a language academy in Tokyo. In the Netherlands, she worked for the Allied Forces Central Europe Officers Club as an event coordinator and assistant manager. In Little Rock, Arkansas, she worked for the Pulaski County Humane Society. In the Azores Islands, Portugal, she worked as an event coordinator at the Officers Club. In Pirmasens, Germany, she was the new car sales representative and the rental car agent for the military community. After moving to Rehoboth Beach in 1991, Lesley managed a store at the outlet mall for five years. She became a manufactured homes sale representative for two years. Lesley completed her working career as a counter sales person for a jewelry store on Rehoboth Avenue for two years. In September 2000, Lesley accompanied her husband back to Germany to be a homemaker for nine and a half years, ultimately returning to Milford, Delaware for permanent retirement in 2010. Lesley was born on July 22, 1940 in London, England. She leaves behind her husband of 46 years, Wilbert Dee Lawson, and three sons; Don Van Lawson (spouse, Candy Lawson), Dinh Van Lawson (spouse, Adalina Lawson), Jason Paul Lawson (spouse, Krissie Lynn Lawson); seven grandchildren: Tiona Delores Lawson, Amber Renee Lewis, Ashlie Aguirre, Taylor Elise Lawson, Benjamin Chen Lawson III, Micah Andrew Lawson, and Sarah Grace Lawson; one great-grandchild, Maria Diana Woods; one sister (Doreen Cathcart); one brother (Norman Charles Stroud); and many close friends. Her passions included traveling, reading, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. A visitation was held on August 12, 2014 at Lofland Funeral Home in Milford, Delaware with many family and close friends attending.
