Margaret Barnes Carey

Barnes Carey, 93 LEWES - Margaret Barnes Carey died on Feb. 15, 2013, in Lewes, Del. She was born in Albemarle County, Va., daughter of John Lumsden and Margaret Perry Barnes. She is preceded in death by her four siblings, Silas W. Barnes, Harold G. Barnes, Elizabeth Barnes Forman, and Carl F. Barnes. Mrs. Carey attended Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia, and graduated from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia in 1941. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles D. Carey, Jr. of Cheyenne, Wyo., where they lived for many years prior to moving to Amherst, N.H. in 1968, and then Dover and Lewes, Del. in 1981. She is survived by a son, Charles D. Carey, III (Dave); his wife Rebecca L. Geiger and an only grandchild, her beloved Rachel G. Carey of Lewes. Mrs. Carey is also survived by two daughters, Ellison M. Carey of Dover, and Elizabeth B. Carey of Lexington, Mass., and many devoted cousins; nieces; nephews, and many lifelong friends. Funeral services and interment will be held on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 11a.m. at St. George's Chapel, 20274 Beaver Dam Road [at Route 23], Harbeson, Delaware 19951. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to All Saints' Church, 18 Olive Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, Del. 19971; Milton Historical Society, 210 Union Street, Milton, Del. 19968; or the Children's Beach House, 100 W. 10th Street, Suite 411, Wilmington, Del 19801.
