DOVER — A 46-year-old man was arrested on weapons and assault charges following an altercation on South State Street on Friday evening, Dover police said.
Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid said the investigation began when officers were dispatched to the 100 block of South State regarding an altercation around 5:19 p.m. Upon arrival, they located a 53-year-old Dover male with a laceration to his upper body, caused during the fight, authorities said.
The injured man was transported to Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus in Dover for treatment.
While speaking with the victim and witnesses, police determined that the suspect was nearby. Officers located Sean Lucas of Dover, who matched a description provided by the bystanders.
Mr. Lucas was taken into custody without further incident and found in possession of a box cutter-type knife, Cpl. Schmid said.
He was charged with first-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on $122,000 cash bail.
