MIDDLETOWN - Donald Chapman, 18, of New Castle, was arrested after gunshots were reportedly discharged in the 100 block of Plymouth Place early Sunday, Middletown Police said.
Officers responded to the area at approximately 1:50 a.m. after vehicles reportedly left the scene. A vehicle with damage from possible gunshots was located in a Wawa parking lot, police said.
The occupants were contacted and Mr. Chapman ran from the scene as officers inspected damage to the vehicle. He was taken into custody and officers located a fully loaded 9mm hand gun, police said.
Mr. Chapman was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, resisting arrest with force, and felony noncompliance with conditions of bond.
Mr. Chapman was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 where he received $26,000 cash bond. He was later committed to Howard Young Correctional Institution after failing to post bond.
