DENTON, Md. - Malcolm "Mac" E. Lord, of Denton, died Saturday, June 13, 2009, at the Caroline Nursing Home in Denton. He was 86. Born in Easton, on June 28, 1922, Mr. Lord was the son of the late James Edward Lord and Lyda Helen Williamson Lord. He had lived in Caroline County all of his life; living in Harmony, Williston, and Denton. He was a 1940 graduate of Caroline High School. Before World War II, Mr. Lord had worked for the Glen L. Martin Co. in Baltimore as a sheet metal assembler. He entered the U.S. Army in 1943 and was attached to the 106th Infantry in Europe, becoming a Platoon Sergeant. He was in the Battle of The Bulge, earning a Bronze star and a Purple Heart. In 1947, Mr. Lord went to work for the US Post Office in Denton, retiring in 1983. He was Past Commander of Caroline American Legion Post 29, a member of the Greensboro VFW Memorial Post 7937, and a member of the 106th Division Association. He was a member of Temple Lodge 128 AF&AM, the Amateur Ham Radio Relay League, and had been a licensed pilot since 1946. He was also the first Commodore of the Choptank River Yacht Club in Denton. Mr. Lord is survived by his wife, Ann W. Lord of Denton; three sons, Alan L. Lord, Richard W. Lord, and James Scott Lord, all of Denton; one daughter, Maxann R. Davis of Frederick; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Edwin Lee Lord. A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second Street, Denton, where friends may call from 6 until 8 on Wednesday evening. A Masonic service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening and a Legionnaires' Memorial Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday to begin the service. The interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be sent to the Caroline American Legion Post 29, PO Box 518, Denton, MD 21629.
