TAYLORS ISLAND - Maggie W. Phillips, 87, passed away on Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge.
She was born in Cambridge on April 3, 1919, and was a daughter of the late Elmer and Fannie Horseman Willey.
She attended schools at Taylors Island. On Oct. 24, 1938, she was married to Andrew H. Phillips. Mr. Phillips passed away on Oct. 31, 1985.
Some years ago she had worked as a crab picker and for a number of years had volunteered at the MAC Center in Cambridge. She had enjoyed doing oil paintings.
She had been in failing health for the past three years and had been a resident at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge for the past three years.
Survivors include a grandson, Steven J. Henry of Seaford; one sister, Sylvia Taylor of Princess Anne; one brother, Elmer Willey of Taylors Island and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Sue Henry; three sisters, Elizabeth Moulton, Ilene Karpavage and Fannie Karpavage and one brother, Charles Willey.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., on Friday, at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. George W. Wheatley Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
