DAGSBORO - Mabel C. Hough passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013 in her home. Mabel was born in Milton, daughter of the late Edgar and Elizabeth (Nailor) Carpenter. She was a Secretary with the University of Delaware Extension Office in Georgetown for many years, retiring in 2006. Several years ago, she was a bank teller with Farmer's Bank. Mabel had been involved with both Sussex Central Pop Warner and Lower Sussex Go-Kart Club. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, William Carpenter. She is survived by two sons, Alan Hough and wife Melanie and Michael Hough and wife Colleen, all of Millsboro; three grandchildren, Emilie, Taylor and Kevin Hough; her companion of over 40 years Darwin Johnson; and a sister, Mary Ann Ruark, of Ellendale. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m on Saturday, March 9, 2013 in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal Street, Milton with visitation after 11 a.m.. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton. Flowers are accepted, or contributions can be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
