MILFORD - M. Kathlyn "Si" Betts passed away on Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, in Bayhealth Medical Center, Milford, Del. She was born in Milford on Nov. 10, 1914, daughter of the late Sallie Belle (Nutter) Sapp and William Orr Sapp. She graduated from Milford High School in 1932. Mrs. Betts was a homemaker most of her life. She loved her family and will be remembered as a friend to many throughout her life and especially those at Heritage At Milford during her later years. Her kind nature was evident to all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Betts was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Betts; her brother, Frank Orr Sapp; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter K. (Buddy) and Jeanette Betts, Paul and Madeline Betts, Dean Betts and Jeanette Ensign. She is survived by one son and three daughters, James H. Betts, II and wife Leslie, of Viola, Sally Ann Holson and her husband, Phil, of Columbia, S.C., Jacki Keen and her husband, Tony, of Broadkill Beach, Debbie Simpson and her husband, Gary, of Milford; her sister-in-law, Rosemary Betts, of Seaford; ten grandchildren, Kelli, Trey, Matt, Corby, Tak, Rhen, Drew, Lindsay, Abby and Andrea; 16 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. At her request, a private service for family will be held in Milford with interment at Milford Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that if anyone wishes to honor their mother, donations can be sent to their mother's favorite charities; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Make-a-Wish Foundation, 3519 Silverside Road, Ridgely Building Suite 100, Wilmington, DE 19810. The family also wishes to express their sincere thanks to the doctors and staff at Milford Memorial Hospital who went out of their way to give loving care and comfort to their mother during her final days. Their efforts were very much appreciated. Arrangements are made by the Berry-Short Funeral Home of Milford.
