HENDERSON/DENTON - Lula Rebecca Zlock died at Talbot Hospice House, in Easton on Wednesday, June 26.\, 2013. Born in Henderson on October 31, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Georgia Wheeler Steele. She attended Goldsboro Elementary School seven years and graduated from Greensboro High School in 1940. On July 19, 1941 she married George Zlock. They lived in Baltimore, where he worked in the shipyard just before World War II. After he joined the Navy and during the war, she worked at the powder plant in Chestertown, later Campbell Soup Company and was a seasonal worker at SanDel Packing Company until her Retirement. They were married fifty years, lacking three weeks. She was a member of Bethel Wesleyan Church, Goldsboro. She enjoyed volunteering at the Samaritan House and Hospice. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, sewing, crafts, and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Zlock; her brother, Preston Steele and son-in-law, Fran Cohill. Mrs. Zlock is survived by her five children, George L. Zlock and his wife Mary, Joyce E. Cohill, Barbara J. Little and her husband Joe, Christine F. Fike and her husband Sam, Gary Zlock and his wife Donna; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 2 at noon at Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro with visitation one hour prior to service.
