Lula Pardee Carrow

DOVER - Lula Pardee passed away Sat., March 2, 2013 at Capital Nursing Rehab, Dover after suffering many years with Alzheimer's disease. Lula was born in 1926 in Dover daughter of the late Edward L. Pardee and Lula Burrows. She attended Dover High School (graduated 1945) and Wesley College. In 1945, she married Melvin Thiel. They had five children together. Lula lived and raised her family in Severn, Md. until 1974. In 1974, she married Gilbert Y. Carrow and moved back to the Dover area. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Dover, where she worked as a preschool and kindergarten assistant for St. John's Lutheran school. She was an active member of the Capital Grange #18 for many years. She was in charge of the junior Grange members for several years. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gilbert Y. Carrow; and two of her children, Timothy Lee Thiel (son) and Luanne Thiel Wright (daughter). She is survived by three daughters, Diane Ruth Russell of Baltimore, Md., MaryAnn Almond of Severn, Md., Dorothy Platt and husband Gerald of Dover; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. Service will be 12 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where visitation will be one hour earlier. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna. Letters of condolences can be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
