Louise Wooleyhan, 92

SUDLERSVILLE, Md. - Louise Wooleyhan of Sudlersville died surrounded by her loving family Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, in Chester River Hospital, Chestertown. She was 92.

Mrs. Wooleyhan was born in Queen Anne"s County, daughter of the late Louis and Bertha (Meredith) Anderson.

She was a 1931 graduate of Sudlersville High School.

Mrs. Wooleyhan was a homemaker.

She enjoyed all aspects of home. She loved to sew, quilt and cook and loved working in her garden. For many of her younger years, she could be found with her husband milking the family cows on the farm. She loved helping family and friends and seemed to always be available to help where it was needed. She also always found a way to make sure there was plenty to eat and an empty seat for unexpected guests at meal time.

Mrs. Wooleyhan was a devout Christian and truly served her church. She was a member of the Downs Chapel Church, Clayton, Del., where she served as president for many years of the Ladies Aide. She was also a member of the Temple Grange. She served on the executive committee of the Sudlersville High School Alumni Association. She was a member of the Templeville Homemakers Club, the Top of the Hill Club of Sudlersville and the Busic"s Church Ladies Aide.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Alfred Wooleyhan in 1990; a son, James Richard Wooleyhan in 1991; and a sister, Nora Smith.

She is survived by three daughters, Virginia W. "Ginger" Jones of Marydel, Alice W. "Aggie" Calloway of Centreville and Patricia W. "Patsy" Chance of Clayton; a sister, Martha Crelling of Dover, Del.; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 370 W. Cypress St., Millington.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Downs Chapel Church, Clayton, where friends may call an hour earlier.

Burial will follow in Sudlersville Cemetery.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Downs Chapel Church, c/o Ginger Jones, 6703 Sudlersville Road, Marydel, MD 21649.
