Prichard, 92 CAMDEN - Louise Elizabeth Prichard died Wed., Jan. 6, 2016 at home. She was born Mar. 8, 1923 in Wilkes-Barre, Penn., the daughter of the late Grace Geick Sorenson, a "flapper" in the 1920s, and the late George Geick, a Big Band drummer. Louise graduated from Coughlin High School in Wilkes-Barre, Penn., the rival school of the one attended by her future husband, Henry, and after they married they were together for 68 years until his death in 2012. They lived in numerous locations in Penn., N.J., Md., and Del. Louise worked as a Western Union switchboard operator in San Francisco during World War II, as a bank clerk, and as a school library assistant at various grade levels for many years. She had a lifelong love of books and reading, a favorite subject being American West history. Louise was fond of antique furnishings and was a skilled decorator and versatile craftswoman. She also took pleasure in music of many styles from classical and Big Band to Village People, and she enjoyed dance. She loved animals and adopted many dogs and cats over the years as well as being a volunteer puppy raiser for The Seeing Eye in Morristown, N.J. Louise's greatest devotion was to her family. She is survived by her son Todd Prichard of Fairfield, Penn., her son Grant Prichard and his wife Maurine of Dover, Del., and her daughter Tracy Surguy of Wyoming, Del., by her grandchildren Bethany Amos and her husband David of Dover, Del., Jesse Fritts of San Francisco, Calif., Bryce Prichard of Denver, Col., Spenser Prichard of Plainsboro, N.J., and Benjamin Surguy of Newark, Del., by her great-grandchild Elloise Amos of Dover, Del., and by a nephew and two nieces. She made friends easily, being endowed with ready conversational skills, and has left many of them behind to miss her as well. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sat., Jan. 30, 2016 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, where a gathering will be one hour earlier. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Louise be made to The Seeing Eye of Morristown, N.J., Meals on Wheels of Kent County, or Delaware Hospice.
