CHESTERTOWN, MD - Louise E. Holden died on January 23, 2013 at Chester River Manor. She was born in Stevensville, Md. on April 19, 1912 the daughter of the late Lemuel O. and Sarah Catherine Lewis Lane. She attended School at I. B. Corner in Chestertown, Md. She married Charles Clifton Holden on May 31, 1927. Together they farmed until 1988. Mrs. Holden was a member of Double Creek United Methodist Church where she served as Treasurer for 40 years. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking, and her family. She was preceded in death by her husband; along with her daughter, Dorothy Louise Hanifee; three brothers; a sister; a grandchild; and a great grandchild. She is survived by her daughters, Catherine Ann States and her husband George of Chestertown, Md. and Margaret Ethel Elliott of Chestertown, Md.; a son-in-law, John Hanifee of Sudlersville, Md.; along with 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren, and 18 great great grandchildren. Services will be held on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home 130 Speer Road Chestertown where relatives and friends may call on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. Interment will be in Church Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Double Creek United Methodist Church 148 Double Creek Road Chestertown, Maryland 21620.
