
DOVER - Louis Charles Neal suddenly departed this life on Nov. 4, 2012, at home. He was born July 28, 1948 in Memphis, Tenn. to the late Essie Lee (Greer) Neal. He attended public schools in Memphis, Tennessee. On Oct. 7, 1983, he was united in holy matrimony to Adalyn Stevens. Upon completion of high school, Louis joined the United States Army where he served for 22 years, earning the rank of an E-7, SFC (Sergeant First Class.) After retiring, he went to work for the State of Delaware as a correctional officer in 1989, and was still employed after 22 years. He will be remembered for his hard work and dedication of caring for his family, going to the gym, and vacationing in Myrtle Beach, S.C., with his wife and grandsons. Louis had a strong belief in God, which showed in the care he demonstrated to others. Preceding him in death were his mother, Mrs. Essie Lee Neal; and a sister, Mae Helen Neal. He leaves to cherish his memory and love, his wife of 29 years, Adalyn Neal of Dover; three sons, Gary Stevens, Bennie Stevens (Jaunice), and Keith Stevens, all of Dover; four daughters, Timi Stevens, Dover, Josette Stevens-Cooper (Eric), Dover, Benyette Rodriguez, Camden, Del., and Ginny Stevens, Dover; seven grandsons; seven granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jordan Neal of Memphis, Tenn., and Leo Neal (Michelle) of Los Angeles, Calif.; one sister, Jeniece King of Milwaukee, Wis.; seven brother-in-laws; four sister-in-laws; nephews; nieces; cousins; and friends. A public viewing will be held at Bennie Smith Funeral Home-Dover, Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be noon Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Holy Trinity Church of the Living God 425 W. Division St., Dover; where friends may call two hours prior to service.
