Smyrna High’s 28-game winning streak in softball came to an end with a 2-0 loss to Bohemia Manor, Md. on Saturday night.

Bo Manor’s Madison Penta pitched a no-hitter and struck out 18 in the non-conference game played at Caravel Academy.

Payton Dixon threw a five-hitter for Smyrna (10-1). Bo Manor scored the game’s only two runs in the bottom of the second inning.

Delmar 5, Caravel 4: The Wildcats (8-3) rallied to stretch their winning streak to eight games in a row on Saturday.

Trailing 4-2, Delmar scored three runs in the top of the sixth. Pitcher Ashlyn Tapman earned the victory in a game in which Caravel finished with an 8-7 edge in hits.

College baseball

Delaware 10, Towson 3: The Blue Hens collected 11 hits and scored nine runs in the final four innings to pull away to the CAA victory.

Offensively, the freshmen duo of Austin Colmery and Joseph Carpenter combined for five hits, three runs scored and four RBI. Classmate Zach Lesher had two RBI, while sophomore Zack Miller had three.

On the mound, Joey Silan allowed just two earned runs on six hits and posting a career-high nine strikeouts in six innings. Junior Derek Wakeley picked up his fourth save of the year with three shutout innings.

Delaware takes on Lafayette in the Liberty Bell Classic championship game for the second straight year on Tuesday night at Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.

College lacrosse

WOMEN, Hofstra 14, Delaware 8: A first-half surge by the Pride was too much for Delaware to overcome in the CAA loss.

UD senior Caroline Farley posted the first goal of the game with a spectacular behind-the-back shot, but HU responded with six straight scores and never looked back in the contest.

Farley led the Hens with two goals and one assist to go along with three draw controls and one ground ball. Sydney Rausa and Claire D’Antonio also collected two goals apiece while Sarah Bedard added one goal and two assists.

With the loss, the Hens fall to 1-4 in the CAA and will not qualify for the upcoming Colonial Athletic Association Tournament.

College golf

Hen men finish fifth in CAAs: The University of Delaware men’s golf team concluded its spring season this weekend by finishing in fifth place at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship.

The Blue Hens, who fired 295 and 298 rounds during the first two days of the tournament, carded a 299 on Sunday to finish fifth out of nine teams with an 892 total. UNCW captured the league title with an 867 score, while Charleston finished six shots back.

UD freshman Matt Pulgini recorded a five over par 76 during his final round on the par 71, 7,088-yard Pinehurst No. 8 course, tying for 13th place with an eight over par 73-72-76-221. Roberto Nieves, who carded a 75 on Sunday, also tied for 13th place at the championship with an eight over par 74-72-75-221.
