Smyrna High holds the early lead in the team standings after the opening day of the Henlopen Conference wrestling tournament on Friday evening.
The Eagles go into Saturday’s final day at Sussex Central with 100 points. Cape Henlopen is second with 88 while Caesar Rodney is third with 83.5.
The semifinals are slated for 11 a.m. on Saturday with the finals scheduled to begin at approximately 4:30 p.m.
Smyrna and Cape Henlopen both advanced wrestlers to the semis in 10 of the 14 weight classes. The Riders and fourth-place Sussex Central both advanced eight through the quarterfinals.
All 14 of the top seeds made it through, with 13 posting pins in the quarterfinals. Cape Henlopen has six No. 1 seeds, Milford has four while Smyrna and Sussex Central have two apiece.
The top four finishers in each weight class earn an automatic bid into the DIAA individual state tournament.

Girls’ basketball
Cape Henlopen 53, Dover 47: The Vikings finished a perfect 14-0 in the Henlopen North for the third straight season but not before the Senators gave them their closest division game of the year.
Cape Henlopen has won 45 North games in a row.
Caesar Rodney 57, Smyrna 38: The Riders out-scored the Eagles, 36-18, in the second half to put away the Henlopen North victory.
Stacey Deputy finished with a game-high 22 points for CR while Teri Bell had 14 and Aaliyah Smith had 10.
Glennyce James led the Eagles with 13.
Woodbridge 54, Seaford 25: The Blue Raiders led 26-5 after the first quarter in a Henlopen South contest that was stopped after three quarters.
Lake Forest 51, Indian River 17: The Spartans were up 36-6 by halftime of the Henlopen South win on Thursday.
Gabrielle Almonte (17), Karly Cain (13) and Breanna Johnson (11) all finished in double figures for Lake Forest.
Delmarva Christian 70, Holly Grove Christian 22: Ainsley Bell netted a career-high 28 points while Sierra Troyer (13 points, 11 steals) and Kaela Mitchell (12 points, 10 assists) both had double-doubles for the Royals.
Boys’ basketball
Seaford 71, Woodbridge 65, OT: The Blue Jays rallied from a 15-point halftime deficit to remain unbeaten in the Henlopen South.
Seaford out-scored the Blue Raiders, 55-34, after intermission, including 14-8 in OT. Brent Ricketts had 21 points for the Blue Jays with Tyrese Fortune (17), Kashmeir Wise (12) and Careen Bolden (10) also leading the way.
Emanuel McCrea-Mosley tallied a game-high 24 points for Woodbridge with Kenny Newton (17), Ci-Atrick Stones (10) and Bruce Mosley (10) all reaching double figures.
Dover 71, Cape Henlopen 62: The Henlopen North champion Senators finished 13-1 in the division with the win.
Dover led 41-31 at halftime before holding off the Vikings.
Smyrna 58, Sussex Central 32: The Eagles took a 42-18 advantage going into the fourth quarter of the North victory.
Elisha Gregory (12), Kevin Woodruff (10) and Majesti Carter (10) all paced Smyrna.
Delmar 59, Lake Forest 45: The Wildcats led by only two before out-scoring the Spartans, 16-4, in the fourth quarter.
Early College 66, Delmar 54: The Hornets picked up a Henlopen South victory over the Wildcats on Thursday.
College baseball
Stetson 4, Delaware 3: The Hatters scored a run in the bottom of he ninth to edge in the Blue Hens in their season opener on Friday.
For Delaware, Jake Dunion singled and scored on an RBI double by Joseph Carpenter in the fourth. Trailing 3-1, the Hens pulled even in the fifth when John Weglarz delivered a two-run single to drive home Aidan Kane and Bryce Greenly (Milford).
College softball
Hens split two in Georgia: The Delaware softball team beat Purdue 6-5 in eight innings before falling 10-3 to host No. 13 Georgia on the opening day of the Red & Black Showcase.
Against the Boilermakers, the Blue Hens scored the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning, and then threw out the tying run at the plate to end the game. It was only UD’s second win over a program from a Power 5 conference since 2005.
Brooke Glanden (Lake Forest) led the offense with a pair of hits, including a home run, and scored twice. Halle Kisamore also homered, scored two runs and drove in three.
