Local roundup: Smith’s overtime tally gives Delmarva Christian 3-2 soccer win

Braden Smith’s overtime goal lifted Delmarva Christian to a 3-2 victory over Holly Grove Christian, Md. in boys’ soccer on Wednesday afternoon.

Josh Kline tallied a first-half goal with Noah Walton knotting the score at 2-2 on a goal in the second half for the Royals (1-3), who notched their first win of the season.

Sussex Tech 7, Seaford 0: Byron Suarez-Garcia scored a pair of first-half goals as the Ravens improved to 2-0.

John Farro, Trevor Daisey (1 assist), Jonathan Rocco and Jaasiel Nunez also scored for Sussex Tech, which outshot the Blue Jays, 16-5.

Delaware Military 6, First State Military 0: The Seahawks netted four first-half goals before picking up the victory.

Field hockey

Milford 10, Seaford 0: Jessica Donovan scored four goals and Summer Davis (3 assists) added three in the Buccaneers’ Henlopen Conference victory.

Milford also got two goals from Vanasha Daniels and one from Hailey Sidibe as it tallied five goals in each half.

Madelyn Breitenbach made 17 saves for the Blue Jays.

Holly Grove Christian 6, Delmarva Christian 0: Mara Agapito stopped 18 shots for the Royals in the loss.

College soccer

WOMEN, Wesley 9, Brooklyn 1: Emily Caldarelli and Amanda Moccaldi netted two goals each to spark the Wolverines (4-1).

Wesley scored all nine of its goals in the first half, outshooting Brooklyn, 20-9.

MEN, Washington College 4, Wesley 0: The Shoremen netted four first-half goals before downing the Wolverines (6-2).

Goalie Jason Sommer made a pair of saves for Wesley, which was outshot, 11-9. Washinton College (4-3-1) also held a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.

College volleyball

Lancaster Bible 3, Wesley 1: The Wolverines suffered a four-set loss to Lancaster Bible, 20-25, 25-17, 25-14, 25-22.

Lindsay Burg and Regan Healey paced Wesley with double-doubles. Healey tallied a game-high 12 kills with 18 digs to record her third consecutive double-double and fifth of the season. Burg dished out 17 assists and dug out 13 attacks for her fifth double-double of the year.

Mary Getty recorded six kills in the middle while Elisa Hackendorn registered five kills, four digs and two blocks. Jenna Burchfield had three kills and four digs.
