The victory was the sixth in a row for the Riders (7-3), who held a 7-2 advantage at intermission.
Sean Wooleyhand (4 goals) and Ryan Carey (2 goals, 1 assist) were both multiple-goal scorers for CR, which got goals from seven different players. Goalie Jacob Stant made seven saves.
Woodbridge 9, Delmarva Christian 5: The Blue Raiders out-scored the Royals by a combined 6-0 in the second and fourth quarters before earning the win.
Caravel 19, Milford 18: In a back-and-forth contest, Caravel out-scored Milford, 6-3, in the fourth quarter to post the victory.
GIRLS, Sussex Tech 15, Dover 14: Abigail Baird scored six goals while Morgan Johnson added five as the Ravens rallied for the Henlopen Conference win.
Trailing by two, Sussex Tech out-scored the Senators, 10-7, in the second half. Nataleigh Hunter added three goals and an assist with Breonda Wright making 12 saves.
Madison Small collected six goals and a pair of assists for Dover, which was out-shot 39-33. Riley McQuaide added four goals, Kyleigh Dill had two and Regan Torbert made 14 saves.
St. Peter & Paul, Md. 14, St. Thomas More 4: Jessica Simmons netted a pair of goals with Maia Olsen and Marlena Gordon adding the others for the Ravens in the loss.
Girls’ soccer
Caesar Rodney 2, Smyrna 0: Macy Ramsey scored twice in the first half to lift the Riders to the Henlopen North win.
Laynee Ford made seven saves for CR, which finished with advantages of 26-8 in shots and 6-2 in corner kicks.
The Eagles’ Kiley Herbert made 20 saves.
Caravel 6, Sussex Tech 0: Valencia Whealton made 12 saves for the Ravens in the loss. Caravel, which tallied four first-half goals, out-shot Sussex Tech, 18-3.
Baseball
Laurel 10, Smyrna 5: The Bulldogs had a five-run second inning and a four-run sixth to earn the Henlopen Conference win.
Kaden Shockley, Devon John, and Dalton Perdue each collected multiple hits with pitcher Trace Hitchens taking the win.
Andrew Whitlock and Shawn Mannering had multiple hits for the Eagles.
First State Military 9, McKean 6: Winning pitcher Tyler Jenkins struck out nine as the Bulldogs improved to 5-6.
Daniel Smith had a double for FSMA, which out-hit the Highlanders, 10-8. The Bulldogs used a four-run sixth to open up a 9-4 lead.
College baseball
Dover’s Lawson honored again: Delaware State’s Garrett Lawson was named MEAC Pitcher of then Week for a league-high third time this season.
The Dover High grad was honored by the league for his three-hit, seven-strikeout performance in the Hornets’ 14-0 win over Norfolk State. Lawson is second in the MEAC with seven wins (7-3), tops in the league with a 1.51 ERA and among the leaders with two shutouts and 88 strikeouts.
The team record for strikeouts in a season is 111 by Shawn Phillips (Laurel) in 2004.
CAA honors Hens’ Walter: After throwing six no-hit innings on Saturday night, Delaware junior Brandon Walter has been recognized as the Colonial Athletic Association’s Co-Pitcher of the Week.
In a 5-3 win over Villanova, Walter allowed just one walk and two base runners while striking out 11 to pick up his fourth win of the season.
College softball
Lake grad Glanden wins award: Delaware freshman first baseman Brooke Glanden was named the Colonial Athletic Association Softball Rookie of the Week.
The Lake Forest High grad batted .313 during the Blue Hens’ four games last week, going 5-for-16 with three runs scored, two doubles and two RBI.
Glanden has appeared in all 47 games while starting 46 during her freshman campaign, ranking second on the team with 11 doubles, six home runs and 28 RBI. She is batting .291 on the year, while her 44 hits and 24 runs scored are both fourth most on the squad.
College lacrosse
UD fires women’s coach: The University of Delaware announced on Monday that ninth-year coach Kateri Linville will not be back next season.
Under Linville, the Blue Hens went 79-75, including a 28-28 mark in the CAA with four CAA Tournament appearances.
Linville is a 2003 UD graduate and was a four-year member of the women’s lacrosse program.
“Becoming a head coach at my alma mater was an honor I will always cherish,” Linville said in a statement. “They say home is where the heart is – Delaware is a place I will always call home. I am forever grateful for my time here as both a player and a coach. I wish the team all the best moving forward.”
Hens’ DeRuggiero honored: Delaware’s Mia DeRuggiero was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week in women’s lacrosse after setting a Delaware Stadium record with 11 points against Towson on Saturday.
The junior collected seven assists and four goals. It was the most points for a UD player since 1986.
DeRuggiero had 53 assists this year, breaking Delaware’s single-season record of 43 assists set in 1984.
