Polytech High downed Christiana, 39-22, to finish its football season with a road victory on Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers end up with a record of 4-6 in the program’s first season in Class 1A. That’s the most victories for Polytech since 2017.
Junior Brett Shelton-Hoskins ran for 120 yards and a pair of touchdowns for the Panthers with junior Bruno Nyandemo adding 95 yards and another two TDs.
Polytech freshman quarterback Isaac Balcerak threw three scoring passes.
Mt. Pleasant 41, Milford 7: Already leading 14-0, the Green Knights used a 20-point third quarter to break open its victory on Saturday.
The Buccaneers’ only points came on a three-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Milford finished the season with a five-game losing streak to end up 3-6.
Conrad 42, First State Military 12: The Bulldogs finish the season with a record of 3-7 after the loss on Saturday.
Field hockey
Delmar 7, Caravel 0: Top-seeded Delmar High tallied three third-quarter goals to put away a 7-0 victory over No. 9 Caravel in the DIAA Division II field hockey state quarterfinals.
The win sends the five-time state champion Wildcats (17-0) to Wednesday’s semifinals, where they will face fourth-seeded Sussex Academy at 5 p.m. at DE Turf Complex. Second-seeded Archmere takes on No. 3 Newark Charter in the second semifinal.
Josie Hollamon collected three goals and an assist in Saturday’s win while Jordyn Hollamon and Maci Bradford both scored twice. Delmar took 32 shots and had 18 corners in the contest.
The Wildcats have out-scored their opponents 146-4 this season.
Archmere 3, Lake Forest 1: The seventh-seeded Spartans took an early lead but the No. 2 Auks answered with three straight goals to post the Division II state quarterfinal victory.
Sierra Jester scored at the 5:54 mark of the first quarter for Lake Forest while Addyson Stewart made five saves. Both teams took eight shot while Lake Forest held a 7-5 advantage in corners.
Sussex Academy 3, Tatnall 2: The fourth-seeded Seahawks edged the No. 5 Hornets on Saturday to reach the state semifinals.
Sussex Academy will take on top-seeded Delmar on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at DE Turf.
Boys’ soccer
Delmar 3, Indian River 1: Mason Ball scored twice as the No. 11 Wildcats shocked the third-seeded Indians in the second round of the DIAA Division II state tournament on Saturday.
Delmar, which avenged a 2-0 loss to IR, in the final game of the regular season, advances to face No. 2 Caravel in next week’s semifinals at a time and place TBA.
College volleyball
Delaware 3, William & Mary 0: The Blue Hens posted a straight-set (25-19, 25-19, 25-19) win to improve to 7-8 in the CAA, 13-12 overall.
Lani Mason finished with match-highs of 19 kills (season-high .452 attacking percentage) and 11 digs to post her eighth double-double of the season. Savannah Seemans followed with seven kills, five digs and two block assists.
Teaming up to direct the Blue Hens offense was Ezgi Basaranlar and Lily Rogers with 18 and 12 assists respectively.
