Junior Dorell Little poured in 29 points as Polytech High downed Milford, 67-61, in Henlopen North boys’ basketball on Tuesday night.
The victory gives the Panthers (4-0 North, 5-2 overall) sole possession of first place in the North. It also snaps Polytech’s two-game losing streak to the Buccaneers.
Little sank 10 of the Panthers’ 26 field goals in the contest. Xavier Brewington and Kyle Gamber added 13 points apiece for Polytech, which rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit.
Milford falls to 3-1 in the North, 4-2 overall.
Dover 62, Sussex Central 42: With the game tied 13-13 after the first quarter, the Senators used a 22-9 second-quarter run to take control in the Henlopen North win.
Caesar Rodney 56, Sussex Tech 41: Khalil Kemp netted 17 points as the Riders picked up their first Henlopen North win of the season.
Adam Bailey and Malachai Brinkley both added 11 points for CR, which ended the contest on a 14-7 run.
Isaiah Ayers had a team-high 14 points for Sussex Tech.
Indian River 64, Woodbridge 56: The Indians jumped out to a 17-7 first-quarter advantage before posting the Henlopen South victory.
Brendon Bradford scored 26 points for IR, hitting four three-pointers. Jamaal Jones had 11 points and Rashad Hopkins scored 10.
For Woodbridge, Traci Johnson (13), Bruce Mosley (13), Ci-Atrick Stones (12) and Isaiah Giles (11) all scored in double figures.
Girls’ basketball
Cape Henlopen 54, Smyrna 46: The Vikings rallied from an early four-point deficit by out-scoring the Eagles, 26-15, in the second quarter before posting the Henlopen North win.
The victory was Cape Henlopen’s 49th straight in the North.
Freshman Amalia Frutchman collected 21 points, 14 rebounds, four blocks and three steals for the Vikings. Faith Re added 15 points and four assists while Hudson contributed five points, 13 rebounds and four blocks.
Smyrna got 19 points from both Kai Burnette and Jade Rivera.
Delmar 42, Lake Forest 40: The Wildcats took a 12-point lead into the fourth quarter before edging the Spartans in a South contest.
Zoey Coco netted 12 points for Delmar, which held a 34-22 advantage after three quarters.
Seaford 55, Early College 52: The Blue Jays handed the Hornets their first loss of the season in a Henlopen South matchup.
Woodbridge 84, Indian River 21: The Blue Raiders led by only nine before out-scoring the Indians, 32-8, in the second quarter of the South victory.
Senior De’Asya Jones tallied 25 points, six assists and five steals for Woodbridge with Reghan Robinson (15 points, 8 steals, 7 assists), Tianna Neal (13), Payton Keeler (13) and Iyanna Mims (11) all scored in double figures.
Mya Whittington had a team-high 10 points for IR.
Sussex Tech 41, Caesar Rodney 28: The Ravens out-scored the Riders, 24-15, in the second half to sew up the North victory.
Akira Perry (11) and Alyssa Kellam (10) led Sussex Tech.
Aaliyah Smith netted a game-high 12 points for the Riders.
