Hornets picked 5th in MEAC: Delaware State has been picked to finish fifth in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference regular-season race.
Also, Delaware State outfielder Johan Cunnigan has been selected to the preseason All-MEAC first team.
Delaware State was 9-10 in the MEAC and 11-20 overall during the pandemic-shortened 2021 season, and came up short in qualifying for the four-team MEAC post-season tournament.
Cunnigan, a 2021 All-MEAC second-team selection, batted .309, and led the Hornets in hits (30), runs scored (20) and triples (3) last season. DSU hired Daniel Stockdale as its new head softball coach last summer.
