Kenny Newton rushed for 155 yards and contributed a pair of touchdowns as Woodbridge High defeated Lake Forest High 22-14 on Friday night.
The Blue Raiders, who stayed unbeaten at 8-0, rallied from an early 14-0 deficit. Newton got them on the board first with a one-yard rush before the running back threw a 22-yard pass to Noah Matthews for a 16-14 lead after the two-point conversion.
Seth Smart also tossed a touchdown for Woodbridge with a 20-yard throw to Colin Hastings.
Jalen Morris and Johnson Oakley each caught a touchdown pass to lead Lake Forest.
St. Georges 9, Sussex Central 3: The Hawks broke a 3-3 tie in the second half to post the Class 3A win in Georgetown.
The Golden Knights are now 4-4 while the Hawks are 5-3.
Delmar game at Caravel moved: Delmar’s game at Caravel Friday night was called off due to drainage problems with Caravel’s field.
The Class 2A, District III contest will be made up Sunday at 5 p.m. at Caravel.
Sussex Tech-Milford game postponed: Friday’s football game between Milford and Sussex Tech was moved to Monday at 6 p.m. because of concerns about the rain and stormy weather in the region.
The contest between the two Class 2A, District III teams will be played at Sussex Tech.
Field hockey
Sussex Academy 7, St. Georges 0: Morgan Leeper and Callie Short each scored a pair of goals in the first half to lead the Seahawks to a nonconference victory.
Special Olympics
Fall games at DE Turf: More than 450 Special Olympics athletes and Unified partners (peers without a disability) are slated to compete at the annual Special Olympics Delaware Fall Sports Festival on Nov. 5 at DE Turf Sports Complex.
Competition begins early Friday morning with round-robin tournaments in the sports of bocce, flag football and soccer that will continue throughout the day. A one-mile and 5K run takes place through the complex beginning at 9 a.m. and 9:45 a.m., respectively.
The Opening Ceremony is at 11:15 a.m. inside the stadium. More than 100 coaches have volunteered to train the athletes during the past two months.

College volleyball
North Carolina Central 3, Delaware State 2: The Hornets dropped their second consecutive match by set scores of 19-25, 25-18, 32-34, 25-21 and 15-10.
The Hornets, winners of a school-record 16 straight contests before their current three-match road swing, are now 20-3 overall and 8-2 in the MEAC.
Delaware State’s Kristi Gomez led all players with 20 kills, tops for a Hornet this season. She also had 12 digs in the contest.
Towson 3, Delaware 1: The Blue Hens fell 11-25, 25-23, 14-25, 21-25 to the CAA defending champions Towson on Friday.
College field hockey
Delaware 7, Drexel 3: The No. 21 Blue Hens scored three first-quarter goals before improving to 5-1 in the CAA, 10-7 overall.
Morgan Rigual scored twice with Delmar High grads Ashlyn Carr and Morgan Bradford also among Delaware’s goal scorers. It was the Hens’ seventh straight win over the Dragons.
Rigual and Femke Strien led Delaware with four points each. The Hens close the season at No. 20 UConn at noon on Sunday.
College cross country
DSU men place third: The Delaware State University men’s cross country team capped off the season with a third-place finish at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship race on Friday
The Hornets totaled 62 points and posted a combined time of 2:16.05 for its best conference championship showing since a second-place finish in 2009. Norfolk State won its 14th overall title with 38 points and a total time of 2:12.41.
Delaware State had three runners earn All-MEAC honors this year led by Albert Norman (Sussex Central, who finished sixth overall (26:37.1). It’s the highest a DSU individual runner has placed since 2003.
The other two Hornets to earn All-MEAC were Devin Smith who placed eighth (26:53.6) and Jose Rivera-Yetter in ninth place (26:57.7). These three top-10 finishers are the most that Delaware State has had since 1989.
The Hornet women placed fifth in the MEAC meet. Pamela Hernandez Quevedo earned All-MEAC honors as she placed 13th overall (20:18.4).
College equestrian
Hornets post win: Jordan Wicklund swept both Most Outstanding Performer awards to lead the Delaware State equestrian team to a 6-2 victory over Sweet Briar in a Jumping Seat only competition at Dovington Training Center.
Wicklund was the top rider in DSU’s 3-1 Fences victory in Fences with a score of 85 aboard “Cici.” Miranda MCarthy (84) and Victoria Croston (81) also rode to Fences for the Hornets.
Wicklund topped all riders with a season-high score of 93 to earn MOP honors in the event for the second day in a row. She also earned the award for her Flat performance against Lynchburg on Thursday.
Gabrielle Fournier a score of 92.5 on the Flat to earn a point for DSU, while Croston collected her second win of the day with a Flat score of 91 in the Hornets’ 3-1 victory in the event.
