MEN, Kurtz sweeps CAA awards: Tye Kurtz set a CAA record for points in a game with 10 in Delaware’s 15-7 road win over Fairfield this past Saturday. His seven goals and three assists helped the Blue Hens improve to 8-2, the best start for the program since 2006.

For his efforts, he was named the CAA Player and Rookie of the Week. He is the first player since April 28, 2014 to take home both awards in the same week.

He is the first player in CAA history to reach 10 points in a league game and the first to reach it in any game since 2013. The marks are the highest by any Blue Hen since Curtis Dickson scored eight and had 10 points against Albany in 2010. On top of the offense, Kurtz added five ground balls on the day.

WOMEN, UD earns pair of honors: Seniors Caroline Farley and Chantae Simms were named the CAA Player and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, by the CAA.

Farley totaled 19 draw controls, six goals, three assists, three ground balls and three caused turnovers for the Blue Hens. In Wednesday’s 18-8 win against Oregon, the attacker tied her own school record and set a Delaware Stadium record with 12 draw controls while adding a career-high four goals and six points.

Simms tallied 10 ground balls and eight caused turnovers in Delaware’s triumphs. The defender tied a career-high with six caused turnovers and tied a season-best with six ground balls versus the Ducks. Her six caused turnovers were good to tie for second in Delaware Stadium history and third all-time in program history while her six ground balls ties for third in the Delaware Stadium record book.
