Hens hire pitching coach: Delaware baseball coach Greg Mamula has announced the addition of Casey Kulina to his staff as pitching coach.
Kulina joins the Blue Hens after spending the previous three years as pitching coach at his alma mater, Polk State College.
In 2014, Polk went 12-1 for Polk, finishing one win shy of tying the school record for single-season victories. He was named the FCSAA State Pitcher of the Year and received All-American accolades.
After graduating from Polk State in 2014, Kulina attended Jacksonville University, where he posted a 10-1 record in 20 starts over two seasons for the Dolphins.
Kulina was signed by and pitched in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization in 2017. In 38 innings in Rookie League he posted a 3-1 record with three saves and a 2.37 ERA, issuing only eight walks while striking out 47 batters.
“As a collegiate and professional pitcher, Casey was a winner,” said Mamula. “He was known for his work ethic, toughness and competitiveness. Under Casey’s leadership, these are the attributes that our pitchers at Delaware are going to pitch with.
“As a collegiate pitching coach, Casey has earned a reputation for his ability to develop and connect with his pitchers. We are excited for Casey to be joining our coaching staff and watching our pitchers grow under his leadership.”
