Brian Fleming added three hits including a double for the Vikings while Austin Rhue, Josh Reinhold, Nick Cox and Isaac Terhune each had two hits to round out Cape Henlopen’s offense. Cox also pitched five innings with five strikeouts to earn the win..
Aydin Zimmerman had a hit and drove in a run for Milford.
Softball
Sussex Central 19, Nandua, Va. 0: Mya Jones paced the Golden Knights with three hits and four RBI.
Kiersten Anderson went 2-for-2 and also had four RBI. Madge Layfield and McKenna Boyle combined to pitch a shutout with 10 strikeouts.
Delaware Military Academy 9, Delmar 7: The Wildcats dropped the nonconference matchup despite Jordyn Hollamon’s four RBI.
Hollamon led the Wildcats with three hits, including a double and a triple. Zoey Coco and Ashlyn Tapman also recorded two hits for Delmar.
College golf
UD golfer finishes second at Villanova: Sparky Ariyachatvakin finished in second place among individuals at two under par as the Delaware men’s golf team competed in the Wildcat Spring Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.
After firing a 68 during his opening round on Monday, Ariyachatvakin carded an even par 70 during Tuesday’s round on the par 70, 6,457-yard Radnor Valley Country Club course to finish with a two under par 138. He was one shot behind Marquette’s Hunter Eichhorn, who finished at three under par to earn medalist honors.
Egor Zubov, playing as an individual, tied for eighth place at the tournament with a five-over par 72-73-=145.
Roberto Nieves carded an 11 over par 76-75=151 to finish in a tie for 40th place, while Michal Bargenda tied for 47th place with a 12-over par 73-79=152.
Jack Halleron tied for 56th place by carding a 14-over par 75-79=154, while Hugo Kedzlie tied for 75th place with a 21-over par 76-85=161.
The Blue Hens tied for ninth place out of 15 teams with a 595 two-round total.
Women’s tennis
Delaware 7, Towson 0: The Hens won their fourth-consecutive match, and second straight over a CAA opponent on Tuesday.
Delaware had no trouble from the get-go, taking the doubles point within the first two matches. Alina Vasilenko and Dominika Sujova claimed a 6-1 victory at the No. 1 position while Eliza Askarova and Maria Constantinou also defeated their opponents 6-1 at No. 3 to clinch the point.
Constantinou opened singles play as she blew past her opponent at No. 5 with a 6-1, 6-2 victory. Sujova also breezed to a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 4 before Julieta Honrubia sealed the victory with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 3.
Askarova came away with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles while Vasilkenko registered UD’s fifth straight-set win at No. 2 with a 6-3, 7-5 decision. Viva Laas completed the sweep with a marathon, three-set victory, winning by a 6-7, 7-6, 13-11 score.
