It marked the second straight season that the Spartans topped the Green Knights in their season opener.
Lake Forest hosts Milford on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Battle of the Bell.

Seaford 34, Tower Hill 21: Jazonte Levan rushed for four touchdowns, including three which were for more than 40 yards, to lead the Blue Jayson Friday night.
Levan gave Seaford (2-0) the lead for good at 20-14 after a 47-yard score with 6:40 left in the third quarter. Levan also added touchdown rushes of 42 yards, 43 yards and 12 yards.
Akendre Matthews paced the Seaford defense with three interceptions in the second half. Aviyon Matthews provided the other touchdown for the Blue Jays on a 59-yard catch from quarterback Careen Bolden.
Smyrna 14, Arundel, Md. 0: Yamir Knight and Markell Holman each scored a touchdown while the Eagle defense shut out an out of state opponent Friday.
Laurel 45, Brandywine 0: Kylse Wilson led the Bulldogs with three touchdowns to win the “Battle of the Bone” on Friday night.
Kaden Shockley contributed a pair of touchdowns for Laurel (1-0). His first was a 64-yard pass to Xavier Limehouse while the second came on a 70-yard interception return.
Patrick Belle also scored on a rush from two yards out for Laurel while Mike Gonzalez-Perez booted a 28-yard field goal.
Sussex Tech 28, Delcastle 21: The Ravens picked up their first win of the season Friday to improve to 1-1.
Milford 28, North County, Md. 14: The Buccaneers defeated their second straight team from Maryland to improve to 2-0 to open the season.
St. Georges 41, Caesar Rodney 6: The Riders dropped their 14th consecutive game to fall to 0-2.
Wilmington Charter 21, First State Military 6: Raheem Tomoney caught a 27-yard touchdown for the Bulldogs’ only score as they fell to the Force Friday to begin their schedule.
Cape Henlopen 42, Woodbridge 26: Maurki James ran for 173 yards on 15 carries and scored three touchdowns in the Vikings’ win on Thursday.
Along with a pair of rushing TDs, James also caught a 52-yard scoring pass and totaled 249 all-purpose yards for Cape Henlopen (1-1). Quarterback Joe Coveleski completed 8-of-11 passes for 143 yards and three touchdowns for the Vikings, who used a 28-point second quarter to open up a 35-0 halftime lead.
Cape Henlopen’s defense held the Blue Raiders (0-1) to 48 yards and one first down in the first half.
Wilmington Friends 31, Delmar 6: The Wildcats fell to Wilmington Friends in their season opener Friday, marking their fourth consecutive loss to the Quakers.
Jalen Johnson caught an 80-yard touchdown from Bryce Johnson for the only Delmar points in the game.
Stephen Decatur, Md. 42, Indian River 0: The Indians were shut out in the first game of their season Friday.
Field hockey
Cape Henlopen 4, Severna Park, Md. 0: Addison Basile and Alexis Truitt tallied a pair of goals each as the Vikings improved to 2-0 on Saturday.
Morgan Newcomb made 10 saves in Cape’s second shutout. The Vikings finished with advantages of 16-10 in shots and 9-5 in corners.
Delmar 8, Pocomoke, Md. 0: Jordyn Hollamon and Maci Bradford both tallied three goals to pace the Wildcats (2-0) on Saturday.
Josie Hollamon added Delmar’s last two goals as the Wildcats held a 39-3 edge in shots.
Sussex Central 2, Ursuline 1: The Golden Knights picked up non-conference road win on Friday.
Smyrna 7, Padua 0: Freshman Bree Moffett recorded a hat trick in her debut as the Eagles opened their season with a nonconference victory.
Dru Moffett, Janna Fretz, Kirsten Johnson and McKenna Wilson also scored for Smyrna. Regan Nacrelli provided three assists.
Caesar Rodney 7, Appoquinimink 1: Peyton Shields had two goals and two assists while Hannah Glanden followed with two goals and one assist in the Rider win.
Rachel Smith, Abigail Cholewa and Angelina Hulse also provided goals for Caesar Rodney.
Delmar 9, Severna Park, Md. 1: Maci Bradford’s four goals and Josie Hollamon’s hat trick powered the Wildcats to a season-opening victory.
The Wildcats also received a goal each from Jordyn Hollamon and Laela Brown.
Cape Henlopen 5, Pocomoke, Md. 0: Freshman Alysa McCarthy netted a pair of second half goals to lead the Vikings.
Grace Wiggins, Hannah Maney and Avary Miller rounded out the scoring for Cape Henlopen.
Volleyball
Cape Henlopen 3, Delmarva Christian 1: Kalista Lawson paced the Vikings with 13 kills on Friday.
Set scores were 19-25, 25-15, 25-13, 25-20.
Caesar Rodney 3, Polytech 0: The Riders earned a victory in straight sets 25-14, 25-19, 25-14.
Boys’ soccer
Lake Forest, 3, Mount Pleasant 0: Logan Williams scored twice and Kervens Deus added a goal to lead Lake Forest to a season opening win against Mount Pleasant Friday afternoon.
Goalkeeper Cole Murphy recorded the shutout for the Spartans.
College field hockey
Connecticut 4, Delaware 3: Despite scoring three-straight goals through the first three quarters, No. 24 Delaware (1-4) suffered an overtime loss against No. 10 UConn (4-1) on Friday.
In the first half, Delaware’s first two goals came off the stick of Noelle Sabbagh (Cape Henlopen). Her goals came at the fifth and 27th minutes. Ashlyn Carr (Delmar) and Kiki Oudshoorn were credited with assists.
In the second half, Carr extended the Blue Hens lead with her first goal of the season at the 42nd minute off of a deflection from a previous shot.
The Huskies responded with three straight goals at the 51st, 52nd, and 53rd minute to tie the match and forced overtime. Lizzie Gaebel had two big saves to start the period. However, the Huskies scored the game winning goal was scored at the 62nd minute past a diving Gaebel.
Gaebel picked up the decision and notched a career-high nine saves.
College volleyball
DSU sweeps doubleheader: The Hornets picked up a pair of wins over Alcorn State and Alabama A&M, both by 3-0 in day one of the ISTAP HBCU Challenge hosted by Alabama State University on Friday.
Karen Cordero led the Hornets with eight kills and three service aces for a total of 11 points against Alcorn State. Valeria Otero landed a match-high four services and chipped in with five kills for nine points of her own in the win.
Cordero shined in match two leading the way with nine kills and one ace for a game-best 10 points. Sydney Lewis and Alondra Maldonado finished the second game with eight kills apiece.
UD wins a pair: Delaware won twice Friday, 3-0 over Wyoming and 3-0 against the tournament hosts Winthrop.
Lani Mason finished with 19 kills, eight digs and three blocks to lead the way for the Blue Hens against Winthrop. Rogers followed with nine kills, five digs and two blocks while Kirah Johnson had seven kills and three blocks.
Mason also led the Blue Hens against Wyoming with a match-high 18 kills to go with six digs and two blocks. Rogers followed with eight kills and three digs.
