The contest is one of four first-round contests on tap for this evening — two at at 6 p.m. and two at 8 p.m. — as the week-long tournament gets underway in Roxana.

Ten squads, divided into a pair of five-team pools, will compete for the title in Little League’s age group for 15-16 year olds.

Georgetown/Cape received a bid as the champion of host District III. The host squad will play pool matchups with U.S. East, U.S. Southwest, Latin America and Asia Pacific.

The tournament will then conclude with the quarterfinals on Friday, semifinals on Saturday and the championship game on Aug. 5 at 2 p.m.

District III won last year’s Senior League title with a 4-0 victory over Asia Pacific as Taylor Wroten pitched a two-hitter.
